Good news for EU customers. The US Postal Service has finally stopped using
GLS and Extand who mishandled deliveries for several years in EU countries and
charged extra fees for the favor of poor, slow, unreliable service. Yeah!!!!
-
UK customers... you're still stuck with ParcelFarce but we can always ship your
boots professionally using FedEx.
Let Mr. Brown know what you think of privatisation.

As of 17 April, Wesco is estimating that all custom boots will take about 18
weeks. This is much longer than usual for this time of year and is caused by the large
number of orders Wesco received just prior to raising prices as well as the large increase
in international orders as the dollar continues to sink in value.
The weak US dollar makes these boots a bargain for everyone outside the US.
Usually Wesco's estimates are quite accurate. However they have indicated that this 18 week
figure should be considered worst case. They are making adjustments in their production
schedule and production sequencing to speed things up and many boots will be ready earlier than
that estimate. In fact, we are currently seeing boots ordered at the end of the year shipping 5 weeks earlier
than originally estimated.
Rush orders, for which Wesco charges an additional $100, take about half as long
as a standard order.

Wesco's new prices went into effect on 1 March 2008.
Their price increase was considerably higher than usual.
This was caused by above average increases in the price of raw materials, particularly leather,
caused by the falling dollar and inflation.
So we adjusted our prices accordingly.
- Dehner's production time for custom boots is taking 8 to 12 weeks as of April 2008
- The older Wesco boots used to be made with a last which had a roomier toe. Usually we can have your boots
built using these original lasts. Read more about it in our boot FAQ here

Good news for Australians. Imported items costing less than AU$1,000 are now
admitted duty and tax free. No GST! Full details at the Australian Customs Service
web site.
As the Bush dollar continues its plummet into the toilet, our boots and jackets are
getting cheaper and cheaper in AU$, €, £, and most other currencies.

Wesco boots with low heels instead of the standard logger heels are now available in a wider range of sizes than before.

Wesco has an exclusive distributor in Japan who handles all orders shipped to Japan. So we can no longer
ship Wesco boots to Japan. However we still sell all other products to our valued customers in Japan.
Japan is the only place subject to this restriction... we continue to sell Wesco boots to all
other countries.
- Ever wonder why the soles don't fall off your boots once the sole stitching starts
to wear through? You can find the answer to this burning question on our Boot FAQ page.
The page is filled with erudite and thought provoking replies to the many questions
we get about our boots and makes for a compelling read. Don't miss the link to
the John Galsworthy essay on Quality at the end of the FAQ

The weak "Bush" dollar
has plummeted to another new record low in April 2008 as the USA becomes
the largest debtor nation in history.
Is this because the Euro has become stronger or because the dollar has sunk lower?
The answer is in the financial headlines:
But it's a wonderful thing if you
live outside of the United States.
Our $399 Wesco Boss Engineer boots would have cost €482 at the 26 October 2000 exchange rate.
That same pair of boots would cost about €252.31 now.

- If you'd like a bit more room in the toe area of your Wesco boots there are a
couple of options:
- Consider ordering the steel toes.
Steel toes often get a bad rap for cramping your toes because they take up space in the
toe of the boots. Not with Wesco boots! Wesco uses special roomier steel toes imported from Europe.
In the mid range sizes and widths, these actually have roomier toes than boots without steel toes.
- The older Wesco boots used to be made with a last which had a roomier toe. Wesco is no longer
able to get these lasts but has some of the old ones left. In some cases we can have your boots
built using these original lasts. Read more about it in our boot FAQ here
