After the success of the inaugural Oyster World Rally, organised exclusively for the owners of Oyster yachts, the countdown to the Oyster World Rally 2017-19 has begun. The departure from Antigua is set for January 2017, the Notice of Event has been published and entries are invited by May 2015.
With this fully-supported, 27,000 mile circumnavigation extended from 15 to 27 months and comprising four connecting stages, participants can look forward in this event to lengthier, more relaxed exploration of the Pacific and Asian islands, while also discovering more of New Zealand and Australia.
The division into stages also adds flexibility for some choosing to sail the world, some just parts, some seeking the longer passages, some not, the rally’s sections reflecting this well.
First, Part 1 – The Pacific Rally, the Caribbean to Galapagos via the Panama Canal, and on to the Marquesas and Vanuatu, ending in Auckland. Then Part 2 – The Antipodean Cruise, sailing New Zealand and Australia before the seasonal weather patterns permit Part 3 – The Asian Rally, ending in Bali and enjoying the safe southern waters of Papua New Guinea and the Indonesian isles after perhaps a passage back out into the Pacific and the Solomon Islands. Then Part 4 – The Passage Home, via Cocos Keeling and Cape Town for Christmas 2018 before arrival back in Antigua in April 2019.
Sailing one stage or all, the fleet is assured of our legendary Oyster customer service. The Oyster team will be on hand at every landing, easing everything from docking and provisioning to checking in and out, while of course helping with maintenance, spares and more.
