The WORLD SHOOTOUT is a worldwide photo competition where amateur and professional photographers submit photos in 12 categories of snapshots under and above water. The international jury selects 10 photos from all entries, from which boot director Petros Michelidakis chooses the picture of the year.

Digital award
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the winning photography will be announced digitally this year! Among the entries, photographs and snapshots from the photographers' archives were also allowed to be submitted for the first time. The digital award ceremony will take place on January 29, 2022, starting at 7:30 p.m. on the Underwater Photo Competition Facebook channel.

The story of the competition
More than 16 years ago, the competition was held for the first time under the direction of David Pilosof. Over the years, the contest became more and more popular and became the leading event for underwater photography - with candidates from all over the world. Meanwhile, the photo contest is considered the number one event in underwater photography circles of amateur and professional photographers and is referred to in internal circles as the "Olympics of underwater photography".
