Due to the ongoing pandemic and worldwide lockdown measures, Messe Düsseldorf decided to cancel boot Düsseldorf 2021. The next boot will open its doors from 22 to 30 January 2022.
The continuing high level of infection and the not foreseeable end of the lockdown make a resumption of trade fair operations at the end of April appear unrealistic. Our priority is the health and planning security of our exhibitors, visitors and service providers. Therefore, we decided to cancel early.
In 2022, boot Düsseldorf will return to the known concept and will accompany watersports enthusiasts into a new season. We’re looking forward to open the doors for boot Düsseldorf from 22 to 30 January 2022 and to network with international exhibitors, well-known business partners and trade visitors of the whole maritime sector. boot Düsseldorf will start with the registration portal for interested companies in May this year. See you in 2022!
All parties involved are working on solutions for all open questions and the project team will contact you on this.
Why is boot 2021 cancelled?
Due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated worldwide lockdown measures, Messe Düsseldorf decided on Thursday, 21 January, to cancel boot Düsseldorf for the year 2021. The continuing high level of infection and the fact that the end of the lockdown cannot be foreseen for the time being make a resumption of trade fair operations at the end of April appear increasingly unrealistic. We have re-evaluated the situation with our partners and jointly decided on an early cancellation of boot 2021. Our priority is the health and planning security of our exhibitors, visitors and service providers. All activities will now be focused on the successful realisation of boot 2022.
Why is the cancellation of boot 2021 being announced now - couldn't we have waited and hoped for the situation to ease?
Of course, we want to live up to the exhibitors' long-standing trust in boot, even in such a situation. Our priority is the health and planning security of our exhibitors, visitors and service providers. The continuing high incidence of infections and the fact that the end of the lockdown is not in sight for the time being make a resumption of trade fair operations at the end of April seem increasingly unrealistic. We have re-evaluated the situation with our partners and jointly decided to cancel boot 2021 early in order to be able to offer our exhibitors optimal planning security.
Who can guarantee that boot will be able to take place at its next date from 22 to 30 January 2022?
The development of the vaccination situation and the associated statements, for example by the Robert Koch Institute, lead us to expect that the peak of the pandemic will be over in the autumn. This means that we can hope for a return to personal contacts and a trade fair with distance.
Why doesn't boot take place virtually?
Sailors and power boaters want to explore and experience their sports equipment on site. Exhibitors have expressed a clear vote for boot as a presence event, as it offers one of the rare opportunities to present boats and yachts live to customers. There is a great deal of support for the fair in the water sports community. Although the diving and travel industry is suffering from the effects of the pan-demic, the diving associations vdst - German Scuba Divers Association - and tiv - Diving Industry Association - as well as the German Marine Federation - BVWW - have also expressed their confidence in boot and support the organisation of the fair on site in Düsseldorf.
Exhibitors and visitors can continue to find out about the latest news from the industry as well as trends and new products on our online platforms. All approved exhibitors will continue to be listed in the database and the "Exhibitor and Product Search". They can actively enter information about their company, boat and yacht premieres, boards, diving equipment and travel via our online order system. This gives the fair a comprehensive, unique, online presence at www.boot.com. In addition, we are continuously developing our hybrid offers, as we have done in the past. Until the new trade fair date, boot will be active with virtual formats and in the social media. Here, the water sports industry can inform itself, present itself and network in the meantime. For boot 2022, work is also being done on a hybrid trade fair experience that will, among other things, enable digital participation in seminars and events at boot in Düsseldorf.
What do you do with the registrations that have already been confirmed?
