The idea for the Lite XP, designed by Sam Manuard, came after first experiences with the first Lite XP trimaran during the long distance race Race to Alaska. The aim was to build a new, light boat for 1 to 2 persons with a small cabin that could be operated under sail as well as with muscle power.
Rudder bench with footrests The Lite XP is a catboat rigged monohull that offers a proper rowing bench with footrests and, depending on wind conditions, can use either wind or human power to propel. The Lite XP is equipped with a 12m² mainsail and an 11m² gennaker (optional) and is easy to steer and stable in the water. The boat is also easy to manoeuvre while rowing and reaches speeds of up to 3 knots.
For smaller expeditions The 6 meter long, 1.80 meter wide and 180 kg light boat has a small slip cabin, which allows 2 persons to sleep on the boat. The fittings and the freestanding carbon mast are simple, but very well thought-out and functional. As an option, the Lite XP can be equipped with a carbon rudder and a canopy, allowing it to be used for smaller expeditions in coastal waters, rivers or lakes.
