The Ocean Race Europe is one of the most exciting high sea sailing races in the world. In 2025, it will once again bring spectacular images, exciting races and top international sailors to the European seas. Here you can find out what the race is all about, which teams are competing and when the most important stages take place.
What makes the Ocean Race Europe so special?
The Ocean Race Europe is a multi-week high seas regatta format that was held for the first time in 2021 and has taken place every two years since then. Teams from all over the world sail in several stages along the European coasts, crossing a wide variety of weather zones and putting their navigation, tactical and endurance skills to the test.
The boats - modern high-performance yachts such as IMOCA and VO65 - compete in thrilling races from one port city to the next. The focus is not only on sporting ambition, but also on sustainability: the race focuses on environmentally friendly technologies and draws attention to the protection of the oceans.
Big names, big goals: These professionals are on board
The Ocean Race Europe 2025 features some of the best-known names on the international sailing scene. The German team Malizia is led by Boris Herrmann, who not only became world-famous through his participation in the Vendée Globe and the Ocean Race, but is also committed to protecting the oceans.
The British sailor Pip Hare, who will be sailing for the Canadian team Canada Ocean Racing - Be Water Positive, is also prominently represented. Hare made a name for herself primarily as a solo sailor and is now switching to the team format for the Ocean Race Europe.
With world-class skippers and crews, including participants from the IMOCA class, Vendée Globe, Ocean Race and Olympic Games, the Ocean Race Europe is not only a high-calibre sporting event, but also a gathering of the international sailing elite.
