The Citroën Windsurf World Cup Sylt is the highlight of the 2025 Windsurf World Tour: from 26 September to 5 October, Brandenburger Strand in Westerland on Sylt will become the centre of the international windsurfing scene. With over 200,000 visitors, prize money of up to €120,000 and competitions in wave, freestyle, slalom and foil (men), the event is the only Super Grand Slam on the PWA World Tour and one of the most prestigious stops worldwide.
Disciplines & Competition
On Sylt, the world's best windsurfers compete in four disciplines:
Wave: Combination of surfing and spectacular jumps
Freestyle: Technically demanding tricks and spins
Slalom: High-speed racing on a fixed course
Foil (men only): Fast rides with foil boards above the water surface
Highlights & programme
The World Cup not only offers exciting competitions on the water, but also an extensive programme on land. Visitors can expect exhibition stands, food and drink, music and interactive activities on the promenade. The combination of top-class sport and a festival atmosphere makes the Windsurf World Cup Sylt a special experience for the whole family.
International elite and top sporting achievements
A large number of top international athletes are expected to compete again in 2025. In previous years, surfers from more than 25 nations have taken part. The conditions off Sylt, with onshore winds and strong surf, demand a lot from the athletes and at the same time guarantee a spectacular competition experience.
In previous years, Lennart Neubauer's freestyle world championship title in 2024 and Sarah-Quita Offringa's consistently strong performances in the waves caused quite a stir. Such achievements clearly demonstrate why the Windsurf World Cup Sylt is one of the absolute highlights of the scene.
The Windsurf World Cup Sylt is the only tour stop where all three main disciplines plus foil are combined. This makes the event a benchmark in international comparison. In addition to its sporting relevance, the World Cup also plays an important role in promoting young talent, public interest in water sports and the visibility of innovative technologies.
