On 3 October, in sunny but stormy weather, the Passat presented herself to water sports fans in northern Germany in Travemünde at the Baltic Sea coast, sporting her brand-new tarpaulin. Visible from both banks of the Trave, the new motto of boot Düsseldorf is emblazoned on the sailcloth. ‘We love water’ has been on everyone's lips since September and is inspiring the boot community both as a slogan and as a song. Director Petros Michelidakis was able to see for himself the motto's appeal in Travemünde and explains: “We love water means that we fans love the water. If you want to be part of the community, join in, come to boot, get informed and just have fun with friends. With our new motto, we will bring the topic of water sports with all its facets to society and get people excited about it. Here in Travemünde, we are directly among the active people on the Baltic Sea, and in Düsseldorf, too, we offer the athletes a fascinating platform.” The song is available for free download on Spotify and YouTube, link on www.boot.com.
For over 50 years, the Rhinelanders have been partners of the Lübeck Yacht Club and on board in Travemünde with their trade fair. So, of course, they were also there when the young Atlantic crossers around skipper Clara Weimer returned to their home port of Lübeck on 3 October 2024 after a 400-day sea voyage. The 27-year-old and her crew had spruced up the yacht club's training ship, which is over 30 years old and decorated with the boot logo, for the trip and set sail from Travemünde at the beginning of August 2023. Accompanied by an armada of local sailing boats, the ‘Meu’ covered the last nautical miles in the Lübeck Bay on Thursday and entered the Trave again in quite stormy weather and high waves. She moored directly opposite the traditional four-masted barque ‘Passat’ with her new ‘We love water’ cover at the marina and was enthusiastically received by family and friends. Petros Michelidakis and boot President Robert Marx also welcomed the young sailor and her crew on behalf of boot and spontaneously invited her to visit Düsseldorf in January so that she can tell a wide audience about her adventures, including an orca attack.
