European Yacht of the Year 2019

There is one sentence that is characteristic of the first night at the boot Düsseldorf, and it will be the same again in 2019: "And the winner is ..." Traditionally, the European Yacht of the Year Awards will be presented at the Flagship Night, the industry gathering hosted by Delius Klasing Verlag and Messe Düsseldorf on the first Saturday of the leading boat show. And one thing is certain: It will be exciting! The great thing about the prize giving ceremony in Düsseldorf is that you can have a close look at the nominated yachts in detail in the exhibition halls! Sailing performance, comfort, construction quality, price-performance ratio, design and unique technical features are the characteristics assessed by the international jury.

The category Family-Cruiser comprises of yachts designed for sailing with friends and family on day trips or holidays but also for long-distance blue water cruising.

As the name already suggests, Performance-Cruisers are yachts designed for fast and competitive sailing on the race course, but catering for all creature comforts required for enjoyable holiday sailing as well.

With yachts nominated in the category Luxury-Cruiser the focus of designers is on particularly comfortable and luxurious design and equipment. These sailing yachts are usually larger and situated in a higher price range, but well prepared for sailing the oceans around the world.

Multihull is an umbrella term that comprises both catamarans (yachts with two hulls) ans trimarans (three hulls), both of which can offer an exceptionally large living space on board as well as a generally higher speed potential than comparable monohulls.

There are boats that are simply unique in one way or another: The category Special Yachts puts the focus on exceptional yacht designs, groundbreaking hull construction, innovative features or technologies like foils or wing sails.
