The mother of all fun sports

Windsurfing is considered the mother of all fun sports. More than two million Germans have already gained experience with windsurfing. Windsurfing is young, dynamic, lively, successful.

The sport of windsurfing does not pollute the environment and is free of negative trends like doping, accidents or big scandals. Whoever practises windsurfing is not only considered a committed sportsman, but also a particularly fun-loving and innovative person. The majority of windsurfers are always mobile, extremely spontaneous and at home all over the world.

Stars and legends

Windsurfing has already spawned important stars and legends. Prime example surfing legend Robbie Naish is known to the majority of Germans, even if they are not active in water sports themselves. Likewise his successors Björn Dunkerbeck or Philip Köster are real stars of the sport and bring the fun of windsurfing closer to the general public. In the meantime, the "Second Wave" of Young Guns is setting out to challenge the established stars.

Windsurfing on the rise

Windsurfing has been experiencing a stormy upswing for some years now, after the windsurfing industry was in a crisis at the beginning and middle of the 90s and kitesurfing has established itself more and more as a direct competitor. However, many skateboarders and snowboarders as well as former surfers have returned to windsurfing or have rediscovered this unique sport for themselves. The reasons for this are manifold: The material has developed considerably further. The use of modern high-tech materials makes light boards and rigs with a wide range of applications possible. The new material makes it much easier to get started.

Exciting for beginners and professionals

It has never been so easy to learn windsurfing. The freestyle trend lured the wild "boarder generation" back to windsurfing and provides spectacular action even in domestic windsurfing areas. New in the coming years are the foils, with which the windsurfers take off from the water since 2017, which provides for a new influx in the scene. With "Formula Windsurfing" racing celebrates a furious comeback. Especially in Germany, windsurfing gets an additional boost after impressive successes in the national series "German Windsurf Cup" and as an Olympic sport with popular names like Amelie Lux, Moana Delle or Toni Wilhelm.
