Lever down and full speed ahead - the world of motorboats hasn't been that simple for a long time. Nowadays, it is more about style, comfort and quietness.
"Silent Yachts" by Michael Köhler immediately adopted this motto for their name. The motor catamaran "Silent 55" certainly has proven itself extensively in everyday use:
Sustainability requires new approaches
Powered by electric motors, supplied by batteries that are charged via solar panels - and which also supply all other appliances on board, from the refrigerator to the navigation electronics, with the required energy. A fascinating concept, this "sun sailor" (Wave Magazine) with unlimited range and real autonomy.
The monohulls from Greenline, on the other hand, which already appear much more conservative in style than the silent cats, rely primarily on hybrid technology. Depending on their size, however, the boats are also available as all-electric boats, or as pure combustion boats with petrol or diesel engines. Because that is what makes this boatyard so special: Greenline models are available in a wide variety, from 10 to 20 metres in length, as runabouts, touring yachts, semi-gliders to displacers.
Focus on design even for smaller boats
A very stylish open boat comes from Switzerland: The Shortbreak by Ganz Boats from Switzerland. This open boat for a relaxed day on the lake, with table, berth and bathing ladder at the stern, is also versatile. The cleverly designed boat is available with diesel, electric or hybrid drive, with shaft system or pod drive. Or with an outboard motor, either electric or petrol, and also with Z-drive. You have the choice!
The Nerea 24 is both elegant and modern, like a little jewel on the water with its curved teak deck, large cockpit including sunbathing area and even useful equipment under the foredeck. There is a day cabin where a double bed can be set up if required - and there is also room for a separate toilet. All this in the finest Italian design.
Say yachts are a good example of how fast, modern tenders or even utility boats are constantly evolving until they become a category of their own: Fast, sometimes even luxurious speedboats for day trips or weekends on the water. Say's focus is very consistently on speed and design, less on luxury in the conventional sense.
Superboats:Boats with that special something
Another motor boat on hydrofoils is the Candela Seven from Sweden. What looks more like a normal, conventional runabout in idle mode, turns out to be a fast foiler when in motion. Built completely in carbon fiber, therefore light and energy efficient, because this boat is also completely electric. And equipped with many other innovative features, such as automatic adjustment of the foils to the sea conditions, an integrated touch screen for operation and navigation and much more. The boat reaches 30 knots top speed, an economical speed is between 19 and 23 knots, giving the boat a range of 50 nautical miles - plus a reserve of eight nautical miles in absolute economy mode and three knots to sneak home in an emergency.
Another world premiere at "boot" is the Invictus GT 320 Atelier. This model from the Italian shipyard impressively demonstrates the level of individualisation that every boat can receive here. The already exclusive and futuristic styling of this boat is given a further facelift by the personalisation in the Atelier version. In a "virtual laboratory", Invictus customers can visualise and try out all combinations of colours, materials and equipment. In this way, Italian design becomes a very personal experience.
Bavaria also relies on Italian design, Marco Casali of Too Design played a major role in the development of the new Bavaria SR 4 - however, always in close cooperation with the in-house development team of the Giebelstadt shipyard. This is the perfect symbiosis of design and practice, an example being the innovative "Lounge-Sun-Area" in the stern. As a sun lounger, it offers a very classic, beautiful lounge area for relaxing. But under the middle cushion is a lowerable table - if you remove the cushion, you can enjoy your lunch directly on the water. If, on the other hand, the backrest is folded back, the sun lounger becomes a bench in the cockpit. With clever details like these, Bavaria has succeeded in giving the new boat maximum space and comfort.
These and other boats at boot 2020 show quite clearly: the world of motor-driven watercraft has never been as colourful and diverse as it is today. Come and see for yourself!
