Freshwater: First, I took on the Irish pike in one of Ireland's few reservoirs. In the area there are many waters with shallow water zones, ideal for jerkbait fishing or fly fishing. These are real top spots to learn spin fishing or to learn new techniques. The bites are not long in coming. The Irish hunters are incredibly fierce. I had heard about it before, but didn't quite believe it. Now I am fully convinced!
Salt water: Together with Kevin Murphy we went out to sea. To be exact, over the next three days we caught as much fish as I could have ever dreamed of. Cod, pollock, ling, conga, plaice, mackerel and the popular sea bass. Unbelievable what a wealth of species there is on the south coast of Ireland.
River: I saw my first jumping salmon. Powerful and majestic, like silver arrows, they leaped up the weir. I tried a two-handed fly rod for the first time. With a little practice, the fly flew quite far and the first fish were not long in coming. Conclusion: My week went by way too fast. I liked it so much that I would like to go there again with a bigger group to explore more waters. Source & more great pictures from Ireland on:Babs Angelblog
