For the first time an international wakeboarding competition takes place at boot Düsseldorf. Eight wakeboard professionals will be competing against each other on Saturday, January 26th 2019.

Six riders have been invited, among them superstar Daniel Grant, who came all the way from Bangkok (Thailand). Eight more riders compete for 2 wildcards to the final on Friday, January 25th 2019.

Bump instead of kicker

A new wakeboard setup in the pool was developed especially for this competition: Instead of a classic kicker, there is a so-called bump, which ensures high jumps but is more demanding at the same time. However, the riders can also ride very creatively.

Incline Rail

In addition, there is an Incline Rail, which enables more spectacular tricks. A competition run consists of a round trip, a trick on one of the two features has to be shown.

Schedule and prize money

On Friday 25.01.2019 two wildcards will be won in two jam sessions for the contest on Saturday. The field of riders is top-class and includes:

On Saturday, 26.01.2019 there is a total of 3.000 Euro in prize money in the final. In a format with a mix of head-to-head and two-minute sessions, the 2 Wildcard winners from the previous day will meet six set riders:

Daniel Grant
The superstar from Bangkok, with his good mentality and funky style attracts the fans like no other in his spell. At just 21, Daniel Grant has achieved almost everything on the wakeboard which can be achieved. Despite his still young age, Daniel has been mixing up the international contest world for the last seven years and has rarely not been on the podium. Daniel is well traveled. In 2018 he visited 21 countries with the wakeboard in his luggage.

Felix Georgii
X Games Real Wake Gold in 2017 and Silver in 2018. At last year’s Cable Mekka Awards, he won in all categories in which he had been nominated: 4 out of 10! Among them the Men’s Best Rider of the Year and Best Trick of the Year. The year 2018 was a very successful one for the 25-year-old from the southern German region of the Allgäu, who is a similarly good rider on the snowboard. Felix definitely is the currently most noticeable German wakeboarder.

Alex Aulbach
Alex Aulbach comes from Landshut in Germany and, since he made his breakthrough as a professional two years ago, has been ennobled with his own Promodel wakeboad. Above all, the figurehead of the German wakeboard scene feels at home everywhere in the world. Florida, California, Australia – the 23-year-old is becoming increasingly well-known internationally and knows how to enjoy life. His biggest contest success so far was winning the Bricks Open in 2015, but Alex’s main focus is on photo and video productions. For the boot Düsseldorf, he makes an exception.
