Adjacent to the established Sailing Center, a new area will be created in Hall 15, where the technologies of the high-performance sport are represented to the visitors. Short video sequences, futuristic exhibits and an area for eSailing invite guests to discuss, touch, and try themselves. The GPS was fascinating the sailing world around 50 years ago, today everything revolves around foiling, wingsails, design and alternative boat building. What is the difference between a conventional sail and a wingsail? How can a 44 foot catamaran sail on two tips? What is the difference between L-foils and T-foils? Can you sail around the world in a volcanic fiber hull? These and other questions will be answered centrally in the Tech Zone at this year's boot.
In the following you will get an impression what to expect:
Seeing and understanding are what technology is all about. Take a moment and immerse yourself audiovisually in the enchanting world of sailing. Decide for yourself which new technologies, innovation, format or design you want to learn more about. Let the pioneers explain you the sailing sport of the 21st century.
Exhibits and Models
Various exhibits also provide insights into current developments and trends. "The Foling Dinghy" brings the art of flying to the local waters. The sail characteristics of the monohull are similar to a laser - until the hull lifts off the water. The self-adjusting foils allow even inexperienced athletes to have safe fun with this new technology. At least since the last America's Cup wingsails are in vogue: Wingsails are enjoying increasing popularity within the regatta scene. Visitors of the Tech Zone get an idea where the differences are between a conventional sail and a wingsail and how the aerodynamics work.

Sailing delivers magical pictures! Come aboard a Volvo Ocean 65, on a TP 52 or set sail with Lina Rixgens on her Mini 6.50. In the Tech Zone, you can embark on a virtual adventure. Stand side by side with the pros and slide over the waves.
An online-based sailing format will also celebrate its premiere at the boot: The eSailing Regatta. The eSports trend inspires the sailing world and enjoys growing user numbers. The first and second place participats of each qualification round will move forward into the final, which will be held live on the big stage of the Sailing Center on Sunday afternoon, 27.01. The winner of the eSailing Regatta can look forward to exclusive prices. Further information about the format and the exact dates of the qualification rounds will be announced shortly.
