This year's winner of the ocean tribute award is ECOP AFRIKA! The project has set itself many important goals: More climate protection, more sustainability in aquaculture, more knowledge about the ocean and more poverty alleviation. ECOP AFRICA achieves this through natural CO2 sequestration techniques in African coastal and marine ecosystems. At the same time, it promotes aquaculture and ocean literacy, and collects, develops and implements conventional and traditional natural carbon sequestration (NBS) techniques
2023: Innovation Yachts
The world's first constructed recyclable and sustainable composite boat catamaran, the IY LBV35 from the new series is electrically powered by solar energy and hydrogenator. In addition, Innovation Yachts also guarantees the customers to re-buy of all building materials (vulcanized fiber, balsa wood (FSC) & biological epoxy resin) in case of damages or at the end of the product life cycle, because IY recycles in its own factory.
2022: HelioRec
The winner of "ocean tribute" Award 2022 is HelioRec. Eco-friendly electrical charging stations (ECSs) for the maritime sector based on floating solar power plant. Floating solar power plant will supply clean electricity to ECS. The main goals of the project are to save the land space in a port area, generate a clean source of energy, charge electrical vehicles (EVs) and electrical boats (EBs) with ECSs and implement novel digital services for data prediction and optimization.
2021: Equilibrio
The NGO CODEMAR produces and distributes the free magazine "Equilibrio" in Mexico and uses it to shake up the people in their homeland. The magazine provides comprehensive information on the current state of the oceans and on new projects to restore an intact nature.
2020: Sea Women of Melanesia
The winner of the "ocean tribute" Award 2020 was the Coral Sea Foundation. During their project "Sea Women of Melanesia" Melanesian women are trained in scuba diving and marine biology survey techniques so they can setup marine reserves on their traditional reefs.
The winner of "ocean tribute" Awards 2019, category "society" is part of the Malizia sailing campaign by the deep-sea sailing professionals Boris Hermann and Pierre Casiraghi. During deep-sea regattas the team will collect data on the condition of the oceans and evaluate it in co-operation with the Max Planck Institute for Metrology in Hamburg and IFM Geomar in Kiel.
2019: NeptuTherm (category "industry")
The winner of the category industry: Taking balls of seagrass from the Mediterranean Sea, Prof. Richard Meier has developed a modern and environmentally friendly insulating material which is by no means inferior to any traditional industrial product. The insulator is certified by the Blue Angel environmental label and can be re-used.
2019: The Ocean Race (category "science")
The winner of the category "science" organizes the ultimate yacht race, encompassing 12 stopovers in iconic locations. This global sporting event is combined with cutting-edge scientific research, through a Science Programme, to raise awareness of plastic pollution in the oceans and the global solutions to it.

GREENBOATS is specialized in the development and manufacturing of lightweight sandwich structures made from natural and/ or recycled raw materials. Their vision si that one day products will consist of 100% renewable and / or recycled materials WITHOUT sacrificing performance or durability.
