Hoist the sails, set a course and the sailing adventure can begin. At boot Düsseldorf, the boot Sailing School with a 25x10m water basin and wind machines is ready and waiting in Hall 15. Try out and get your basic skills here.

During the boot you can try sailing. Participation is expressly desired! Of course, under the expert supervision of the experienced sailing instructors of the Unterbacher See. The students learn from the instructors in the boot Sailing School the first steps in dealing with sails and wind. Optimists are available for sailing on the large water basin with several wind machines.

Your start into the sailing adventure

The Optimist dinghy, also called Opti for short, is a small, light dinghy. It is designed for children and young people up to the age of about 15. The boat has only one sail and is not only used in recreational sports.

Most children who start sailing are between 6 and 8 years old, but you can also be older. Important requirement: For Opti sailing, participants will wear a life jacket.
