After 24 years in office as president, Winfried Röcker did no longer stand for election. The first Vice President Gisbert König honored Winfried Röcker in his laudation for his more than three decades of commitment in the presidium of the DMYV - from 1989 as assessor and since 1997 as President.
During his long period of office, Winfried Röcker was able to achieve many successes for motorized watersports in Germany and always stood up for the interests of motorboat sportsmen and women in politics, administration and business. Among the great successes of his term of office are the reduction of water leases for watersports clubs, the authorization of the DMYV by the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMVI) to issue the International Boating Certificate as well as the upgrading of the secondary waterways by the BMVI and the creation of a separate budget title at the federal level. For his achievements, Winfried Röcker was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 2006.
In recognition of his services to the association, the delegates at the association conference appointed him honorary president of the German Motoryacht Association. In his farewell speech, Winfried Röcker thanked the association for his support and wished his successor much success: "I am handing over an orderly and healthy association to my successor. [...] I wish the presidium and the association: May you always keep the course, navigate in the right fairway, avoid cliffs and shoals and always guide the ship 'German Motoryacht Association' into a safe harbor."
The newly elected president Frank Dettmering thanked the delegates for their trust and made it clear that the DMYV faces great challenges. These challenges must now be tackled together with a united association. Finally, Frank Dettmering also addressed his thanks to his long-time predecessor and the successful work that Winfried Röcker had done as president. He acknowledged the good state of the association in which he took over the office of his predecessor with the words: "We have received a torch that burns, and not just the ashes."
