Impressions of boot Sailing School
Experience magical moments on stage
Directly adjacent to the water basin is the stage of the boot Sailing School. As in previous years, the presenters Noemi Niestrath and Christian Zeelen will provide entertaining and at the same time informative programme items. Many sailors, for example, have already dreamed of getting away from it all with their families and setting off for new horizons, but had reservations or fear of the unknown. These fears are allayed by hearing about the experiences of families. You can look forward to experiences, tips and tricks for your own family time under sail.
From sailing courses to classrooms on the high seas
School lessons don't always have to be boring. How about a classroom on the high seas? On the three-masted topsail schooner "Thor Heyerdahl", children can swap the school desk for the steering wheel. In 15-minute presentations, this will be reported by Ocean College, Hermann Lietz Schule Spiekeroog and the "Classroom under Sail". You can also get an insight into what a sailing course at a sailing school looks like on the boot Sailing School stage. Oliver Osche will conduct a sailing course with visitors on the fly. Whether theory or practice, all questions about sailing courses will be answered. If interest is aroused, the numerous sailing schools on site can be contacted directly.
Sailing with radio-controlled regatta boats
Every day from 14:15 to 14:30, visitors can try out RC (radio-controlled) sailing. These fast-paced, up to 1.20m long regatta boats are radio-controlled and a recognised class association of the German Sailing Association (DSV). Thanks to the support of Heinz Bohn (from the German Class Association RC Sailing), visitors will experience an exciting and dry sailing experience.
What to do in case of water ingress
In addition to the exciting reports of sailing adventures, the important topic of water ingress will be covered in detail on stage and live at the water basin. Leakage expert Richard Jeske, supported by claims professional Dirk Hilcken from Pantaenius Yachtversicherungen, will demonstrate professional and safe behaviour in the event of water ingress. The 8-metre yacht "Meri Crash" will serve as a test object. By simulating a real leak, visitors can demonstrate their skills and patch the leak.
From knot sessions to water rescue
The Association of German Sport Schools (VDS) will be in charge of the daily knot session and will demonstrate to visitors how to handle the ropes so that the right knots hold at sea and can also be untied again. Safety on the water will not be neglected either. The water rescuers of the DLRG and DRK will demonstrate how people are rescued on the water and from the air. The ADAC will demonstrate how to use life jackets in emergency situations. In short: the boot Sailing School presents the whole range for getting started in sailing and thus guarantees visitors in Hall 15 unforgettable and magical moments.
