Steadily growing number of exhibitors in Halls 15 - 17
Look forward to more than 200 scheduled talks, interviews, presentations and events with over 70 guests and speakers on stage in the Sailing Center (Hall 15) of boot Düsseldorf 2020 - food for thought as well as great entertainment!
Well above 350 manufacturers of sailing boats, yachts, multihulls and dinghies will be presenting their products in three halls completely dedicated to sailing, making boot Düsseldorf the leading platform in the world for the sailing community.
A thrilling atmosphere and real sailing spirit
It is no surprise that boot Director Petros Michelidakis is delighted about this positive development: “At our anniversary boot event, I emphasised it again and again: as far as we are concerned, sailing is the original water sport! Sailing was the first way that people moved across water. The first known picture of a ship with sails is on an Egyptian drawing from Luxor that goes back to the period around 5000 BC! And sailing is as popular as ever. So it is no surprise that the number of exhibitors at boot is continuing to grow. As a passionate sailor myself, I am already looking forward to the active, exciting atmosphere and the sailing spirit in the halls.”
All top brands come to Düsseldorf
From 2020 onwards, three halls are being devoted to sailing. It goes without saying that the major players in this sector will be there too: Hanse, Bavaria, Hallberg Rassy or big boat suppliers like Oyster and Nautors Swan are coming back, for example. Together with the manufacturers of such innovative new boats as Bente, they will paint a diverse picture of a progressive sailing community with plenty of international flair.
Tech Zone & eSailing in Hall 15
The Tech Zone was newly established for the first time at boot 2019 and attrackted a great number of visitors with its focus on new technologies and innovations in sailing. While it was GPS navigation that fascinated the sailing world about 50 years ago, today's hottest tickets are all things connected with foiling, wingsails and alternative boat building. The new Tech Zone in Hall 15 offers a focus on technologies recently developed in high-performance regatta sailing. Short video sequences, futuristic exhibits and a designated area for eSailing invite visitors to experience, test and discuss innovations.
Supporting young talents & Start Sailing
“boot is not just a platform for boats and yachts, however; it has also been committed to promoting sailing for many years now “, explains Petros Michelidakis. An excellent example of this is the Düsseldorf sailor Constanze Stolz, who is aiming to take part in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in the 470 class and is now training at her new location in Kiel. boot Düsseldorf is one of her supporters and sponsors in this endeavour. She will most certainly appear on the stage at the Sailing Center of boot 2020, again.
The stage programme will be spiced by many more appearances of globally renowned sailing figures like Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, such up-and-coming young sailors as Laura Dekker with her new sailing project for young people and experts or blue water sailing experts like Sönke Roever. Newcomers and anyone else who is interested will benefit from the know-how provided by the experts here. "The sailing halls reflect a lively and very emotional community. I am particularly pleased that we are launching the “Start Sailing” campaign (Hall 15) in co-operation with our media partner, the publisher SVG Verlag."
