For the very special dream destinations such as the Caribbean, the South Seas or the Seychelles, circumnavigator Mareike Guhr is the right contact. She knows her way around all the oceans and passionately describes the most beautiful anchorages on our planet. She is also happy to provide information about the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and many areas of the Mediterranean.
She is an experienced skipper, sailing journalist and the blue water expert in the team. Therefore she is happy to advise long-distance sailors and those who want to become one. As an enthusiastic multihull sailor, she is also an expert for catamaran cruises.
The Hamburg native learned to sail on her family's own trimarans and has been sailing on all oceans with a wide variety of ships for over 30 years. The book authoress ("Blau Türkis Grün") was a skipper for charter agencies, led many crews on cruises and regattas and sailed often with pure women teams. The promotion and training of women is particularly important to her.
Now the lady from Hamburg is planning her next long voyage and it's going to the South Seas again. More information about Mareike Guhr under www.magsail.de
The journalist, author and publisher Martin Muth is a specialist for Mediterranean topics. After almost 10 years as head of department at the sailing magazine "Yacht" (where he also founded the former special magazine "Yacht Charter"), he took over the information office Mediterranean in the German Sailors' Association, Cruiser Department in 2001.
Martin Muth travelled in many areas, e.g. in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, in the Netherlands, in the Caribbean and between the islands of the Seychelles ... After the Adriatic Sea, the Balearic Islands and Mallorca became his second sailing home.
Before moving to Hamburg and to the sailing magazine "Yacht", Martin Muth was a daily newspaper editor in the Ruhr area. His first bigger trips led him to the Dutch waters and the Adriatic Sea. He also devoted himself to photography. In addition to several manuals, he also produced illustrated books on Mediterranean regions.
Bernard Schwab - Fachmann für Chartereinsteiger & die kroatischen Inseln
The third member of the cruise advice team is Bernard Schwab. He has already written down his knowledge in his well-known beginner's primer on yacht charter, which is especially aimed at skippers who are chartering for the first time and want to be prepared in advance for their trip.
Bernard Schwab mainly travels in the eastern Mediterranean and develops excellent sailing plans for the Greek, Croatian and Italian island world, which he knows very well from countless trips, but also feels at home in the Danish South Seas.
Jürgen Straßburger - Motorboat & Sailing Specialist
Our man for great and unforgettable trips with the motorboat is called Jürgen Strassburger. Born in 1945, the journalist and author has been on the water since the 1960s - by motor as well as by sail. In the 60's and 70's he undertook, at that time still as a passionate sailor, numerous transfer trips for renowned charter companies in the Mediterranean area. At the end of the 80s, his hobby also became his profession: he took over the helm of the travel department of the motorboat magazine BOOTE, which he headed until 2010. Since 2010 he has worked as a freelance author of several inland and coastal handbooks, and the "Schlemmerguide" (Culinary guide) on Croatia.
Jürgen Straßburger advises motorboat drivers on all areas in inland waters in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy and on the Danube up to and including Budapest. But also more unusual inland waters like the Göta Canal in Sweden, the Intra Coastal Waterway in the USA or the canals and lakes in England and Scotland can be found in his repertoire. Straßburger also knows the most beautiful corners and routes in the coastal waters of Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Spain (incl. Balearic Islands) and France in the Mediterranean Sea, Germany, Denmark, Sweden (west coast), Norway (south coast), Poland, Russia (Kaliningrad) and Lithuania (Klaipeda incl. Curonian Lagoon & Nemunas Delta) on the Baltic Sea coast. Of course, the German and Dutch North Sea coasts are not missing.
