After building a 300m² tent for competition material and a 3m display for the live timing, on the first of june was the official start of the third edition of the Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Challenge/ Speedsurfing World Championship.
With around 50 professional and amateur competitors from more than seven different nations signed up, the first heat started at 13:30. The wind dropped after around 20 minutes and the heat had to be cancelled. In the afternoon the conditions improved and another heat was started by the race director Juan Antonio Aragon but it got cloudy, the wind dropped andonce again the heat had to be cancelled. Taking into account the changeable conditions, the beginning of both heats saw some decent speeds posted by some riders, so organizors are hoping to publish a Fun Ranking from the virtual Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Challenge on www.gpsspeedsurfing.com.
Thanks to the cooperation with Global Save Track we can provide a live timing this year for everybody directly at the beach on a big screen or digitally on the website: www.protegear.eu/dunkerbeck.html
