Yacht-builders present boats specifically for the charter market
With charter yachts, the megatrend towards multihulls remains unbroken, especially in sunny southern waters: Catamarans conquer the charter fleets in particular where anchoring is the main activity. In the Caribbean, for example, catamarans are now far superior in numbers to monohulls.
And while multihulls naturally offer their long-established advantages for a relaxed island hopping holiday, sailors who would like to sail on a monohull in a more dynamic way now have to take a good look around and book in good time in order to catch a monohull in the area!
"Monocat" for the South - Sun Loft 47
The newly developed Sun Loft 47 from the French shipyard Jeanneau offers a compromise between the two styles. This yacht was designed by the well-known designer Philippe Briand, so that we can hope for really good sailing characteristics. There is a revolutionary new concept in this modern hull, for which the initiators (including Loic Bonnet, the active boss of Dream Yacht Charter) have come up with a new name: The Monocat.
In principle, this is a boat that is purpose-built for sailing holidays in the south. There are six (!) double cabins below deck. In addition there are four bathrooms with shower cabins, that's it: living, cooking, eating and whatever else is done on deck. Thanks to the nowadays common, decent width even of monohulls, there is an impressive area available here.
Enough space in any case for two steering positions, a real kitchen and two seating areas aft, which turn out to be quite versatile: Suitable for eating as well as for lounging around in the sun, when one or the other or even both tables are lowered and covered with cushions. In the stern, there is a large panel that turns into a bathing platform at anchor - and a 14-metre-long floating holiday island is ready, with which you can probably also sail very well. The latter is something that die-hard sailors on an otherwise very comfortable catamaran always miss.
Vibrant life on deck
The large, open cockpit area of the Sun Loft can of course also be incrementally protected against wind, sun or rain by means of textile awnings that can be opened or closed depending on the weather. Loic Bonnet describes the Sun Loft 47 as "a novel, versatile sailing boat with simple and comfortable living spaces". The managing director of the charter company Dream Yacht Charter knows about the needs of a young clientele for a holiday on board.
Starting immediately, the Sun Loft 47 will be available from major charter companies such as Dream Yacht Charter, Kiriacoulis, Navigare Yachting and Athenian Yachting. Primary application areas are berth and cabin charter, but also bareboat charter - a universal concept. Through the charter agency Argos a trip for the season 2020 can be booked in the Mediterranean area, for example in Turkey, Greece or Croatia, but also in the Caribbean.
Young, urban, adventurous
Aysegül Inceören of Argos explains: "The Sun Loft 47 is ideal for a young, urban clientele who want to book an adventurous but relaxed holiday in a larger group. The input of the idea provider Loic Bonnet, who knows the needs of his customers at Dream Yacht Charter very well, was excellently implemented. With this new concept Jeanneau created a Monocat, which offers enough comfort and space at a reasonable price for sailing trips in the Mediterranean area or also in the Caribbean.
