Following their keep it simple principle, MICHAEL SCHMIDT YACHTBAU has created a 70-foot yacht that a family can sail by themselves – but thats also perfect manned by a crew. This option and many other nice-to-haves are all part of the carefully designed concept of this Tripp 70. We at MSY are especially pleased to have been able to develop it together with Bill Tripp, for decades a well-known name in exclusive yacht design.
The Y|7 Tripp 70 comes with several new features that make cruising simple with a small crew. First of all it is a light-displacement due to its carbon fibre sandwich construction and the carbon fibre rig. As usual at MICHAEL SCHMIDT YACHTBAU light-weight panels are used for the interior with a surface finish according to customers wish.
Due to her modern lines and the light-weight construction the Y|7 shows great sailing performance. She is fast and easy to control with her twin rudders, the self-tacking jib and the balanced sail plan. Good speed even in light winds extends the cruising range. To enhance the range under engine and for better manoeuvrability the 70-footer is equipped with 2 sail drives with 75 hp each
Another main feature to make sure the most beautiful sailing areas can be reached is the lift keel option. The draft with the standard lead keel is 3.30 metres. With the lifting keel it can be reduced to only 1.90 metres.
The accommodation layout offers 3 to 4 cabins in different options plus a crew cabin with its own companionway. The window areas are reduced for an optimal compromise between incoming light, a panoramic view and the prevention of an inside temperature rise.
Yx7, a true crossover boat for people looking to explore the world in the best possible way. The design is based on the invaluable experience weve gained in creating an explorer sailing vessel for a top scientific foundation in Switzerland
