Learn To Dive

Best Dive Courses in Roatan
With its clear and calm Caribbean water and large variety of dive sites, diving in Roatan Honduras is the perfect destination.

We teach all PADI scuba diving courses from Open Water Diver (beginner) to Instructor at our onsite dive center, Subway Watersports. We also offer a range of Specialty diver lessons using the PADI system of diver education and their most current training materials.

You or your group will receive a personal dive instructor who will take as much time as necessary to ensure everybody gets the best training possible. We want you to enjoy your Roatan scuba diving experience, rather than feel like you’re being pushed through the coursework.

All our scuba dive instructors have several years of teaching experience. Plus, we teach in English and Spanish.

We are a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center and the first National Geographic Award dive center in Roatan and the Bay Islands of Honduras. We adhere to PADI standards and procedures.

We guarantee that diving in Roatan Honduras with us will mean a first class experience.

Discover Scuba (Beginner)
Ask about a free Discover Scuba experience in the hotel pool. You will take your first breath underwater under the supervision of an experienced dive Instructor. Children as young as 8 years can try scuba diving in the pool.

Discover Scuba Diving
If you have never been diving before, now is the time to kick off your Roatan scuba diving adventure. This program allows those who have never tried it to safely experience the thrill of scuba diving. You will watch a short video and after a brief orientation from the Instructor practice a few basic skills to dive safely before you go on an actual dive under the close supervision of an instructor.

This experience may change your lifestyle forever. If you want to become certified after your discover dive, that’s no problem. The discover dive counts as the first dive for your Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification. Discover Scuba Diving is $95 (includes equipment use and free dive insurance during training).

Scuba Review (Refresher): The scuba reviews’ primary purpose is to help certified divers refresh their dive skills, especially after a period of diving inactivity. Includes one dive. You will be schooled up in no time to embark on your Roatan scuba diving adventure. $80.

Adventure Dive
Adventure scuba dives allow you to explore your diving interests, gain dive experience, learn new skills and broaden your awareness of the underwater world. You select the specialist dive you would like to complete with guidance from your PADI instructor. Completing any three adventure dives earns a PADI Adventure Diver certification. Talk with an instructor at our Roatan dive center for more information on the types of dives you can choose from. PADI Adventure Diver $ 250 (incl. training material and certification).

Advanced Open Water Diver
This Course gives you the chance to try some of diving’s most popular specialities and expand your diving knowledge under the supervision of a PADI instructor. You will do 5 dives in total and where better than diving in Roatan Honduras! $330 (incl. training material and certification).

Emergency First Response
EFR is a basic one-day training course in CPR and emergency care. The Emergency First Response course is not diving specific, so you don’t have to be a diver to take this course. However Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) training are mandatory to enrol in a Rescue Diver or Divemaster course. Cost varied (incl. training material and certification).

Rescue Diver
The PADI Rescue Diver course is an important and crucial step in expanding your knowledge and experience beyond a purely recreational level. You learn to look beyond yourself to consider the safety and well being of other divers. The rescue diver training readies you to help prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies using a variety of techniques. The course is designed to be demanding, though realistic in its conduct, content and approach. Although the nature and context in which rescue training may be used is serious, the course is enjoyable and builds your confidence. $370 (incl. training material and certification).

Your Journey into dive leadership starts here. The PADI Divemaster rating is where your adventure as a dive professional begins. For those who decide that scuba diving can be more than a recreational endeavor and are interested in exploring the professional potential it may hold, acquiring the PADI Divemaster rating is an essential step in the process.

If there is a common characteristic of what a Divemaster is, responsibility is the most accurate term. No single word so adequately defines what a Divemaster is and how a Divemaster is responsible for people, responsible for planning, responsible for orientation, and at some time, responsible for nearly every aspect of safe diving.

You will undertake some theory-based assessment at our Roatan dive center as well. Diving in Roatan Honduras is widely regarded as one of the best places in the world to achieve your rating of Divemaster. This course is only offered as a Divemaster Internship.

Scuba Diving with Subway Watersports

Roatan Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
Roatan and its world-renowned scuba diving attracted more than a million visitors last year. As far as Roatan resorts go, Turquoise Bay is the only dive resort in this lush and remote area of the island providing scuba divers and snorkelers with the opportunity to dive and snorkel uncrowded, pristine sites. The North side of Roatan offers scuba divers and snorkelers the unique opportunity to experience the largest variety of reef topography on the island. Roatan, in the Bay Islands of Honduras, is surrounded by the world’s second largest barrier reef that is one of the healthiest in the Caribbean due to the Roatan Marine Park and the local dive community encouraging conservative diving practices. Explore sloping plateaus perfect for spotting macro life, sheer walls with large soft corals and barrel sponges, wreck dives abundant with life, crevices, trenches, overhangs and cavern systems such as our two most popular dive sites Underground and Dolphin’s Den.
All of our scuba diving lessons and instructors are PADI qualified for your peace of mind.
Roatan’s water temperature ranges from 78 – 84 F with visibility consistent between 60-100 feet

About Subway Watersports
Our on-site Dive Center is operated by Subway Watersports. They are an elite PADI 5 Star Instructor Development and National Geographic Dive Center. Subway Watersports opened for business in April 2001 and soon became well known for its quality and personal service. Our location at Turquoise Bay opened in March 2006. We offer valet diving, take out small groups of 6-12 divers per boat and a PADI Divemaster guides all dives. Experienced Scuba Instructors offer PADI scuba diving lessons from beginner to Instructor in private classes. In addition to diving we offer snorkel trips, fishing and day trips to the neighbouring Bay Islands.
To learn more about Roatan scuba diving and the lessons we offer at our dive center, visit our website.

Subway Watersports is open 7 days a week. Our dive and snorkel boats leave daily at 8:45 am, 10:45 am and 2 pm. We offer one night boat dive per week (more on request). We scuba dive and snorkel mainly on the north shore of Roatan in the area between Sandy Bay and Punta Gorda. Our dive sites are close by so we come back to the dive shop for our surface intervals. When we go to some of the further dive sites we do a two tank dive in the morning and one tank in the afternoon. We are the only dive operator diving on this part of Roatan which means you will not see other scuba divers during your dive and have private unspoiled dive sites.

All-Inclusive dive packages include three boat dives per day. Should the sea conditions not allow us to dive on the Roatan North shore we will take our guests by bus to an alternate location on the South side of Roatan. When diving on the South side we are able to do two boat dives per day instead of three. This scenario may happen between December and March because of strong Northerly wind

Open Daily from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
