AZIMUT 78

Carbon-tech generation
The use of carbon fibre is a construction choice that allows volumes and surfaces to be increased in size while keeping the same weight, therefore maintaining excellent levels of dynamic stability.
Carbon fiber lamination is applied to:
  • deck (hybrid)
  • superstructure
  • rollbar
  • hard top
  • platform/transom
Triple IPS propulsion
Triple Volvo IPS propulsion system installed on hydrodinamic optimized hull shape
  • Superior manoeuverability
  • Minimum noise and viration level
  • Best fuel efficiency (up to 35% reduction compared to shaft line)
Active Trim Control
Interceptor technology provides a smooth, precise Auto mode that automatically takes care of all trim adjustments. It delivers trouble-free handling and a system without corrosion or leaking oil.

Integrated Control Panel
The integrated control system by Garmin has been customised to increase control potential: from engine data and alarms, to bilge and water discharge pumps, tank levels and engine room ventilation, right through to the sound system and the air conditioning units. The system can be accessed from both helm stations and remotely from a tablet.

Joystick driving
Steer your boat at all speeds with the joystick.
  • Comfortable and safe driving
  • Enables ergonomic helm solutions
  • Intuitive and user-friendly interface
  • Perfect response and control
Total privacy for owner and crew
The galley, adjoining the wheelhouse, also contains the crew mess and a stairway which leads directly to the crew quarters on the lower deck. It opens directly onto the side walkway whilst another door separates it from the saloon, creating a layout which offers complete independence for crew and an exceptional level of privacy for the owner and guests.

AZIMUT Grande S10

Carbon Tech Generation
The use of carbon fibre is a construction choice that allows volumes and surfaces to be increased in size while keeping the same weight, therefore maintaining excellent levels of dynamic stability. Carbon fiber lamination is applied to:
  • Superstructure
  • Flybridge
  • Radar Arch
  • Hard top (opt)
  • Transom / Platform
Naviop advanced monitoring system
The bridge was produced in partnership with Simrad-Naviop and has a single ultra-wide screen displaying all the main monitoring and navigation information, a mix of video sources and clusters of content chosen using the commanders, or two touch screens duplicated by two physical joggers for extra redundancy and safety.

Aesthetic and functional light design
Lighting is a feature of the unique and innovative design. Light design elements combine the functional and the aesthetic LED lights pick out the steps of the stern swim platform and the central stairway accessing the flybridge. The lights switch on in rapid sequence to create an unusual scenic effect, this too inspired by car design and also illuminating the boat’s courtesy areas.

Electrochromic glass skylight by Isoclima Cromalite
The electrochromic glass skylight by Isoclima Cromalite is a laminated panel incorporating an electro-optical film based on SPD (Suspended Particles Device) technology. The system is activated by an electrical field that aligns the particles suspended in the film to be able to control solar radiation transmittance very effectively in the visible range and certainly significantly in the solar range.

Active Trim Control
Automatic interceptors by Humphree gives the vessel the lift it needs to get up on plane faster or to reach that optimum running trim. In this way the resistance of the hull is automatically optimised for every speed and load condition, this resulting in increased speed and lower fuel consumption. The Humphree system is all electric powered by 12-24 Volt DC. Thanks to the design of the Interceptor it only requires a small amount of power to move the blade up and down, even under high speed operation.

EPS Electronic Power Steering
At the helm, the innovative Optimus Electronic Power Steering system by Seastar Solutions gives you a similar sensation to driving a top of the range car. The owner can configure the responsiveness of the helm by regulating wheel turns and steering effort according to speed. The system also has the additional benefi t of eliminating the hydraulic piping between the helm station and the rudder compartment.

Dual Mode Hull
Smooth and unslammable, the unique Dual Mode hull ensures comfortable navigation and excellent seakeeping even in moderate sea conditions. Semidisplacement hull shape with a round bilge along the centerline, broad hard chines, central skeg, and a vertical bow which tends to cleave the waves aside rather than skipping across their tops.

About us

Company details

The beginnings
Azimut Yachts came about in 1969, when the young university student Paolo Vitelli founded Azimut Srl, and began chartering sailing boats.

The first steps towards success
In 1970 some prestigious yachting brands appointed the company to distribute their boats in Italy.
Azimut quickly expanded its operations: Apart from distribution, it began to design new yachts. In a joint venture with Amerglass, it designed the AZ 43’ Bali, a mass-produced fibreglass boat, which was an immediate success.

The company gradually expanded its range, focussing on the lower end of the market - with the launch of the AZ 32’ Targa in 1977, the “Ford T” of the boat world - and upper end too - (with the memorable début of the Azimut 105’ Failaka in 1982, the biggest mass-produced yacht in fibreglass at the time).

The acquisition of Benetti and the start of own production
In 1985 Azimut acquired Benetti. This historical brand, based in Viareggio, had been building boats since 1873, and designed the concept of the megayacht.

Azimut was now able construct its own yachts, defining new style and industry standards that would go on to revolutionise the boat building industry, such as: large frameless windows, electric seats, and walnut interiors.

New production sites and international recognition
From the late nineties onwards, with the acquisition of new boatyards at Fano, the restructuring of the Benetti boatyards at Viareggio and the construction of a new site at Avigliana, in the province of Turin, Azimut went on to become the foremost builder of yachts and megayachts.

This leadership position was confirmed in subsequent seasons, thanks to numerous business successes and an investment policy which has consolidated Azimut's technological and production capacities over the years, with sites now established in Brazil.
