Vessel Database

The vessel database is the core module of our software, IDEA Yacht management software. It provides quick access all important information about the yacht after the database build-up.
The database simplifies the input, organisation and retrieval of all types of information.

With minimum training, the user is able to navigate through the database and obtain needed information, which may include:
– Technical specifications
– Locations
– Engineer’s comments
– Planned maintenance intervals
– Service history of machinery

Besides that, the user is also able to retrieve all related digital technical documentation, including:
– Manufactures manuals
– Technical drawings
– System schematics
– Circuit diagrams

– Test and commissioning reports

The visual directory structure of the database can easily be altered by the crew to meet the specific needs of the vessel and its crew.

Maintenance Management

Reduce equipment failures and enhance safety.

Regulations within the yacht industry emphasize the importance of planned maintenance in operating safe and effective maritime assets and made PMS highly important and nearly unavoidable. IDEA.NET generates comprehensive maintenance schedules according to the individual boat’s hierarchy by tracking planned and unplanned maintenance. A maintenance history for all departments, different groups or critical and normal equipment allows you to organize all necessary information for audits in minutes without reasonable efforts.

Maintenance tasks can be assigned to crew members or positions. Departmental job lists cover scheduled time frames based on maintenance intervals that are programmed during the initial set-up of the system.

Inventory and Stock Control

Inventory cost reduction – save money by preventing operational breakdowns.

A properly implemented inventory database system allows maritime assets to perform at optimal levels, providing maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

IDEA.NET’s inventory tools help to streamline logistic processes, control stock levels and optimize the purchase of spare parts and inventory to achieve reasonable cost savings.

The location of each spare part is displayed on a graphical storage area diagram. Storages itself can be accessed by the layout or list.

The barcode inventory management module simplifies the process of signing inventory in and out, and helps saving time by identifying Items or compiling an annual inventory.

Replenishment of stock items can easily be initiated using a customisable workflow routine
Purchase orders can be created and tracked within IDEA.NET following a pre-defined workflow to meet each ship’s requirements. Each step has to be approved by the responsible person related to each approval step. The crew can also fill in their shopping lists to be approved by the manager of the purchasing department. This can be done remotely or at the office on shore.

Department Log

Machine readings can be tracked efficiently in the engine room logbook.

The engine room logbook is a dynamic module that can be adapted to the needs of the engineering department. Logbook entries can be created every day and reviewed at a later stage. An optional interface between IDEA yacht management software and the vessel monitoring system can provide automatic logbook entries.

The engine room logbook provides the perfect platform to meet the requirements of a well-run engine room. Daily tasks can be performed by using rounds to gather all the necessary data of each component and of each department on board. Customized alerts can be set-up to send a notification to the person in charge in case a value exceeds defined parameters.

The IDEA Data Solutions GmbH, located in Duesseldorf Germany, was founded in 2001 as IDEA Nautic and Data Solutions GmbH by Sebastian and Klaus Allebrodt. Since then, we have been developing and distributing our yacht management software IDEA Yacht primarily in the European and US market. To date, we have successfully completed more than 900 projects from 20m to 180m and have a market share of 60% in the segment of 50+m for yacht management software.

In 2008 IDEA was acquired by the SpecTec Group, which is one of the leading software companies in the commercial shipping industry, and was integrated into the group as SpecTec GmbH.

Ten years later, in 2018, SpecTec IDEA became independent again and returned to its roots as IDEA Data Solution GmbH.

We define ourselves as a forward thinking and customer centred company with a distinct hands-on mentality.

Since the founding of our company we always tried to nurture this forward-thinking mentality of the IDEA Team, by utilising our decade long  experience within the yachting industry, in addition to a close working relationship with our customers, in order to achieve success.
