Boat dives on Gran Canaria

The wrecks of Mogán...

The first of the two wrecks sunk by the Yellow Submarine company, lying only minutes away from Puerto Mogan and the dive centre in Taurito. This wreck has been down since the early 1990’s and time has taken its toll with the many storms we have experienced in those years. However the wreck is bursting with life and has its resident massive shoal of Roncadors and Barracuda as well as the many Trumpet fish, Damsel and Puffers that go about their business daily. On occasion Canarian lobster set up camp and Moray Eels and Octopus pop out of the tangled wreck. In mid water you will see Sardine darting back and forth and Amberjack chasing them. Turtle, large Rays and even visit from Manta Ray and Wahoo have graced the water in and around this lovely wreck.

There are two wrecks sunk at Mogán, they were both sunk for the Submarine tours, which leave from Mogán Harbour. The old wreck is now broken up, but the new one is a large fishing vessel and they are both at a depth of 19m. They are covered in marine life as the Submarine tour feeds the fish over the wrecks to attract them for the tourists. The marine life has everything possible in large numbers and we try to time the dive so that the Submarine is there at the same time.

The wreck of the Cermona II lies 60 meters away from the Alagranza and was sunk in March 2002! Time has passed and the Cermona II has settled in perfectly to her surroundings. Like her underwater sister ship, Roncadors, Barracuda and Trumpet fish have made their home in the twisted mental that once formed her hull. Sea Bream overlook both wrecks and if your are lucky the Yellow Submarine may be doing a trip around the wrecks, full of inquisitive tourist snapping photos of the diver who I am sure, they think are all part of the excursion. This is an ideal dive for all level of scuba diver and they are a perfect introduction to Wreck Diving. We have, over the years made a detailed Specialty Course for Wreck diving using both.

About us

Company details

The center was founded in 1972 under the name Diving Center Nautico on the Playa de Meloneras and is therefore the oldest diving school in Gran Canaria. For decades, the diving school was located in the hotel grounds of the IFA Interclub Atlantic in San Agustín.

Since April 2019, the installations of Nautico in Arguineguin can now be found on the former site of the diving school Dive Academie Gran Canaria. After the merger, the new name "Nautico Dive Academy" was born.

In addition to our friendly office and simultaneous training room you will find our OWN POOL directly in front of the base. The spacious outdoor area offers enough space for all other installations such as drying room, WC and our washing area for cleaning and drying your equipment. Free parking for our guests who come with a rental car, located in the immediate vicinity.

Our training lessons and introductory dives start in our own pool with depths up to 200cm to then DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF OUR BASE find the entrance to the sea or to drive with our diving school car and our boat to the respective dive sites.
