How does a typical dive day looks at Lumbalumba Diving – Manado?

The boat is scheduled to leave at 08:30.

After breakfast, just before eight thirty, you walk down to the jetty and dive center where you will find all your equipment already on the boat. Everything has name tags on it and you also get a mesh bag from us with your name. Just check that all is there.

Together with the boat crew, guides and other guests, it is decided where we go and the boat leaves.
Depending on where we dive and what boat you are on, it can take 10 minutes or more than an hour before we are on the dive site.

We have 2 boats. Diver III and Diver IV, both with a toilet on-board. You can also sit outside on the front to enjoy the view or go to the sunroof to work on your tan.
Diver III is catamaran style, has inboard engines, is larger but slower than Diver IV.
Diver IV is smaller, has outboard engines but is much faster than Diver III.
What boat we use depends on conditions as dive site, amount of divers/snorkelers and in general what the best thing is to do.
We are flexible in that approach but within limits of reasonableness. For example if we have 8 divers and 4 prefer Diver III and 4 prefer Diver IV, we cannot let both boats go out.
We often encounter Dolphins and Pilot whales during this time and sometimes even bigger species as Sperm whales.

If you are on Diver III:
Having arrived on the dive site and after a briefing, the divers gear up for the first dive. Once they are under water, the eventual snorkelers can enter the water for a snorkel trip.
When the dive is finished and everybody is back on the boat, you will find your lunch already served.
We have a small menu you can choose from, which is prepared in the morning in our kitchen.
The surface interval is at least 1 hour but mostly it is about 1.5 hr. During the surface interval, you can eat your lunch, go snorkeling or take a nap.
After the second dive, between 14:00 and 15:00, the boat heads back to the resort.

Diving with Diver IV:
Because Diver IV is faster, more is possible.
For example, it might be that 2 dives are taken at Bunaken before lunch.
Then after lunch, a third dive in Bunaken and possibly a fourth near the resort.
However, depending on the circumstances, after two dives we may return to the resort and you can enjoy lunch at the resort and take the afternoon off.

We have a number of good dive sites closer to the resort and those who want to make a third dive can do so while the others go off the boat and return to the resort. The third dive is often also a dive to see the Mandarin fish, which we have in the house reef, and starts around 17:00.

Beside that, is it possible to make a night dive, either in the house reef or with the boat in one of the dives sites in the vicinity.
