Company portrait
After the master boat builder and engineer-economist, Jürgen Schubert, had managed the state boat company "Wiking" in Schwerin for 16 years,
on 1 April 1990, he founded Bootsbau Schubert with 5 employees on the current shipyard site in Plate.
Due to the economic conditions of the reunification of Germany, in the first years mainly repair work on customer boats and woodwork of any kind was carried out.
The first new boats were not built until 1995 with the "Variant 505".
The new development of the "Variant 606" in 1997/1998 was the result of requests from many customers who were familiar with the mahogany Variant from the GDR era.
Soon this compact space miracle became the focus of the work at the small shipyard. Even today, the "Variant 606" is still a product that enjoys constant demand.
As a logical conclusion of this successful model, the construction of the "Variant 606" also as a hardtop followed in 2004/2005 and then in 2009 for the first time the construction of the big sister, the "Variant 707".
This spacious family boat is now available in 2 different versions, Classic and Hardtop.
In 2003 Jürgen Schubert changed the name of his craft business to a GmbH (limited liability company).
Martin Krebs has been with the company since 2002.
He completed his training as a boat builder at Bootsbau Schubert, was taken on as a skilled worker after successfully completing his training in 2006 and extended his training to include a master's degree as a boat and ship builder in 2009.
He joined the GmbH in 2013 as shareholder and managing director, together with Jürgen Schubert.
On 01.01.2015 Jürgen Schubert retired and handed over the management of the company.
Since then Martin Krebs has been the sole managing director.
Today, ten additional employees and one trainee work at Bootsbau Schubert GmbH.
In 2019, new winter storage halls with an area of 2000 m² were built for the accommodation of customer boats or also as storage facilities for caravans, classic cars, trailers or motorcycles.
The special thing about Bootsbau Schubert GmbH is the individuality! We take special requests from our customers very much to heart and are happy to implement them, as far as they can be implemented in the concept of the boat. Every boat is unique!
