Takacat - Takayak-395

Kayaking redesigned - Takayak-300/395 - the redesigned kayak from Takacat offers advantages for all those who do not want to do without comfort and unique features even when kayaking. The advantages of a catamaran are a stable position in the water, a ride like on two rails, getting in and out of the kayak via the open bow is effortless, even out of the water back into the kayak, plenty of space for dogs and luggage travelling with you and a unique forced bilge.

Catamarans are much more tilt-resistant than monohulls, and this also applies to kayaks. Since TAKACAT exclusively develops boats in catamaran design, it was logical that the new kayak from TAKACAT will also be a catamaran => Takayak-395

Generous continuous load area
The number 395 describes the overall length of the Takayak. But much more interesting is the usable length of the inner high-pressure floor of 370cm, with a continuous width of 42cm. So the Takayak offers plenty of loading space for 2 people with luggage, parents with children or for one/two people with one or more dogs.

29cm drive hoses with protective strips on the undersides
The two driving hoses with their 29cm diameter are well proportioned for a maximum load of 260Kg and are powerfully supported by the large-surface high-pressure floor. The lower connecting floor between the two drive hoses additionally protects the inner high-pressure floor in case of ground contact and during landing.

10PSI "Drop-Stitch" high pressure floor
The 8cm thick high-pressure floor can be inflated with an operating pressure of up to 10PSI = 689mbar thanks to its drop-stitch technology. This creates a stable loading platform and shields the entire seating and loading area from the water surface.

3 air chambers + safety overpressure valves
Each driving hose is equipped with a Halkey-Roberts valve at the stern and an overpressure safety valve at the bow. Accidental over-pumping of the tubes is therefore impossible and harmful pressure increases due to strong sunlight are also avoided. The Takayak-395 has a total of 3 independent large-volume air chambers.

One-seam design + 5-layer PVC fabric skin
One-seam design means that each tube is made from a single piece of skin. The tubes have only one longitudinal seam on the outside, which is additionally covered with a resistant 1mm thick protective strip and thus doubly secured. At the bow and stern, the so-called bumpers (end pieces) are then glued in, also double-secured. The One-Seam design reduces the number of seams and seam intersections by over 50% compared to half-shell production and thus significantly reduces the possibility of possible leaks in the seam areas. The 5-ply fabric-reinforced PVC skin with 0.9mm thickness and 1000 dtex meets the standard of quality inflatable boats. Optionally, the Takayak-395 can also be manufactured in 1mm Hypalon/CSM.

Open bow and stern
The open bow and stern create a forced bilge. Water that penetrates the Takayak-395, e.g. due to an overflowing wave or heavy rain, immediately escapes again; no bilge valve can realise such a bilge capability. Another advantage is that it is easy to return out of the water. No time-consuming safety and re-entry training is necessary.

Mobile in a bag
The Takayak-395, together with the high pressure floor, the two paddles, the two kayak seats and the hand air pump can be stowed in a transport bag. The transport bag measures 120 x 40 x 30cm (length/width/height). The driving hoses and the high-pressure floor together weigh 20Kg, the completely parked carrying bag with all accessories weighs approx. 24Kg, depending on the model of the hand pump.

Takacat - Freshwater and Saltwater Fishing

Escape the grind and get out on the water in the best portable fishing boat on the market. Takacat LX Series boats have go-anywhere compact portability, eliminating the need for a trailer and the hassle and expense of boat storage. Quick assembly makes setup a breeze, even in backcountry. Takacat easily accommodates an outboard, so whether you’re heading offshore to jig for cobia or slow-trolling through weeds for trophy pike, the Takacat LX Series adapts to your favorite fishing spot. Throw Takacat and your gear in the truck and head out for a fishing trip on the fly. Tight lines!

Revolutionary Tube-Transom®
The removable Tube Transom® allows the Takacat to roll-up into two easy-carry bags. This unique design creates an open transom that lets water continuously roll out of the back of the boat keeping the deck, you, and your gear dry. It also means you’ll never need to bail even when fishing all day in the rain! The tube includes built-in fittings for rod holder accessories.

Low Draft for Shallow Water
Lightweight catamaran style construction glides over the water so you can access fishing hot spots. The shallow draft allows Takacat to get up on a saltwater flat so you can hunt, or skim smoothly through cabbage in backcountry waterways to reach those secret honey holes without grounding the boat.
The inflatable catamaran design of Takacat makes for a soft, smooth ride, even in choppy waters. The drop-stitch PVC air deck floor provides an ultra-stable surface for casting and keeps you steady when lines are tight and when you need to land a catch. Non-skid coating on the deck lends superior traction.

Propulsion Adapts to Salt or Freshwater
Takacat performs with an outboard as easily as it can be rowed, so it can be outfitted for the water, techniques, and species you’re fishing. Inflatable construction keeps the boat lightweight, making it efficient to power with an electric motor in electric only lakes or reservoirs. Depending on the model, Takacat can be used with outboards up to 20 hp, electric or traditional, for a hassle-free day on the water.

Quick Assembly
Takacat can be quickly inflated and assembled in around 15 minutes with no tools required. Hulls inflate and deflate through two air pressure release valves using the included hand pump or an electric air pump with a standard Halkey-Roberts valve. Assemble right at the drop in location or elsewhere and transport to the water using optional quick-release wheels. Once deflated, the Takacat simply packs down into two carry bags.

Hook Resistant Construction
Extra durable rubber construction resists accidental hook snares. The hull tubes are constructed with durable 0.9 mm, 1,000 Denier custom made 3-ply PVC reinforced fabric material, with full length extra rubber reinforcement under the tubes. Rubberized rub rails on the sides of the tubes offer extra protection. Takacat is also available with UV stabilized Hypalon / CSM (Polyethylene Synthetic Rubber) material.

Permatrim Hydrofoil

Hydrofoil Permatrim (TM) is an efficient trim panel for outboard and Z-drive engines that improves boat performance and handling as follows:

  • Elimination of ventilation problems (air gaps)
  • Improved behavior in harsh waters
  • Faster transition to the slip phase
  • Slip speed reduction
  • Reduced fuel consumption
  • Reduced rocking behavior
Made of aluminum for marine use and with extra layer of powder for maximum corrosion resistance. Developed and produced in New Zealand. Available in 13 models for almost all outboards and Z-transmissions from 8 to 300 hp - for both dinghies and multihull boats.

Eliminate ventilation problems
The Hydrofoil Permatrim (TM) increases the engine's anti-ventilation plate four times and the lateral faults absorb the propeller's current. As a result, Permatrim (TM) dramatically reduces the possibility for the propeller to pick up a pocket of air - the reason for ventilation.

Reduces fuel consumption
Boats equipped with Hydrofoil Permatrim (TM) have more lift in the rear. As a result, the hull slips more efficiently and begins to slide already at lower speeds and at lower speeds. Lower fuel consumption is the result.

Improved behavior in rigorous waters
A Hydrofoil Permatrim (TM) provides better control of the trim angle and eliminates rocking behavior as it already reaches a steady driving level at much lower speeds.

The Wave Piercer Speed Tube

Takacat has developed a new "Wave Piercer" speed tube that has several advantages:

  • As a wave piercer, it divides the water flow between the two outside tubes, turning the Takacat into a trimaran, so to speak.
  • reduces the turbulence between the hoses and reduces the ventilation at the propeller because it creates an additional keel-like flow of water to the propeller.
  • lifts the boat as an additional air chamber, thus improving the planing phase, reducing water resistance and increasing the final speed.
  • reduces water spray on the shaft as the boat rides higher on the water.
  • improves the handling of the boat when heavily loaded due to the additional buoyancy.
  • can be considered as a 4th or 6th air chamber depending on the model.
When inflated, the "Wave Piercer" speed tube is fixed under the connecting floor to the rings of the bow fixation and to the lower transom bar at the stern.

TAKACAT LXHD-Series - Heavy Duty Water Rescue Boats - DLRG - Fire brigade - THW

The Takacat models 340LX-HD, 380LX-HD, 420LX-HD and 460LX-HD are available in heavy-duty versions for water rescue and other operations under difficult conditions. In the heavy-duty version, the Takacats are made of 1.2mm/1450 weight RESC (red/dark blue) thick PVC fabric, alternatively 1.5mm/1750 weight MIL (black) thick PVC fabric or alternatively 1mm Hypalon/CSM. The top of the slides is double reinforced with a wide strip of PVC skin to protect against heavy equipment.

The heavy-duty high-pressure floor has a full-surface and all-round PVC protective coating with an additional layer on the top (2mm) so that the boat can be walked on with heavy footwear without any problems and carrying heavy equipment is no problem.

The heavy-duty transom, made of 2mm stainless steel square tube plus 50mm thick PE1000 transom plates with additional stainless steel reinforcement, can be fitted with a maximum of a 15 or 20hp outboard depending on the model. Thanks to the open bow, a transfer from the water into the boat can be done much easier than with inflatable boats with bow bulge. It is also easier for divers to return to the boat. The open transom allows water that inevitably flows into the boat during a rescue operation to drain away again immediately, the same applies to wave action and heavy rain.

Due to the catamaran construction, the Takacat can also be used for ice rescue in winter, the same applies to the heavy-duty high-pressure floor. Optionally there is the possibility to use a GRP floor instead of the high pressure floor.

The Takacat catamaran inflatable boats of the "Heavy-Duty" LX series are custom-built, i.e. special customer requirements can be included in the production process.

Takacat 460LX - Innovative catamaran inflatable from New Zealand

The new catamaran inflatable 460LX "The Biggie" is the flagship of the Takacat family. It will celebrate its European premiere at BOOT 2022 in hall 9 - booth 9E60.

The Takacat 460LX, also called "The Biggie", is the largest model in the Takacat family of catamaran inflatable boats with a length of 4.6m. With a continuous width of 180cm, a length of 460cm and tube diameters of 55cm each, it is one of the largest portable inflatable boats on the market. Despite its size, it can be stowed away in two mobile carrying bags. Thanks to the dismountable transom and a special folding technique, the complete inflatable boat fits into a carrying bag of only 115 x 40 x 30cm (L/W/H). The high-pressure floor, the oars, the complete transom and the optional wheels are stowed in the second carrying bag of 100 x 40 x 30cm (L/W/H). The 460LX weighs 56Kg when assembled, is designed for 8 people and can be operated with a maximum of a 20HP outboard motor. The special thing about the Takacats, however, is the low weight, the aerodynamic bow design and the early planing phase due to the light catamaran construction, which means that pleasant planing speeds can be achieved even with smaller engines and much less energy is required, especially interesting when using electric motors. Length runs - with its 4.6m, the 460LX cruises smoothly over choppy water, making it the optimal model for coastal cruising, bays and large lakes or as a crew tender.
