Our lifejacket business looks back on a period of now more than 30 years. At that time, Hamburg-based A-TECH GmbH was a supplier of fire alarm and communication systems for new ships. In 1989, a new segment was added: the development and sale of automatic life jackets. In cooperation with the American manufacturer Sporting Lives, life jackets were developed and approved under the name SOSPENDERS and sold on the German market for the first time in 1991. In the following years, the vest business was consistently expanded and successes such as winning sailing tests were achieved. In 2000 the cooperation with Sporting Lives was terminated, as an economical distribution had become impossible due to the high dollar exchange rate at that time. Instead, production was moved to Europe and the lifejackets were henceforth manufactured under the name SOSTECHNIC. With the departure of Horst Prestin in 2000 as Managing Director of Neue A-TECH GmbH, Hamburg, the business was transferred to Neumünster by Olaf Prestin and realigned. Since 2002 the company now also bears the brand name of the rescue equipment: SOSTECHNIC Sicherheitsausrüstung GmbH. Since then, a large number of new items have been added to the range in order to be able to offer a complete range of safety equipment for professional and recreational boating.
