About us

Company portrait

Tradition and innovation in new waters
1948: Birth of the first Hellwig boat
More than 60 years ago Dieter Hellwig built his first boat.
Immediately after the sweaty maiden voyage on the Rhine, he equipped the small paddle boat made of fabric-covered wooden frames with a pre-war side engine.
By investing in this engine, however, Hellwig decided on much more than a more convenient drive. He had discovered his later craft for himself: boat building.

Solid craftsmanship as a trademark
Since 1996 Michael Hammermeister is the new boss of the Hellwig shipyard
The young entrepreneur continues the tradition of high quality workmanship combined with fresh, innovative ideas
The fulfilment of individual customer wishes and a reliable service are the focus of his future-oriented company strategy
In 1998 the company moved to the new production facility in Erkelenz
The Hellwig boats are hand-built here using the latest technologies
Year after year, approx. 150 sports boats leave the shipyard
Under the management of Michael Hammermeister, eight new boat models have been built in the last 5 years alone and many more will follow
