With support of boot always keeping up with the times
21. - 29.06.2025
The Kiel Week in 2025 takes place from June 21st to June 29th. The biggest summer festival in the north of Europe and the biggest sailing event in the world is celebrated by more than three million guests. The many popular events will take place again this year and there will also be some innovations and surprises.
For nine days the city presents itself full of sporting and cultural highlights. Sports tournaments, concerts and diverse events throughout the city make Kiel Week special. More than 2,000 events ensure festive diversity throughout the city. Around 4,000 sailors from more than 50 nations start on the regatta courses of the Kiel Fjord at Schilksee.
Strong partners for 25 years - Kiel Week and boot Düsseldorf
For regatta sailors from all over the world, the club of boot Düsseldorf on the event grounds in Kiel-Schilksee has been the first meeting point at Kiel Week for 25 years: Here the check-in takes place and every morning there is a weather briefing for sailors with weather expert Meeno Schrader. Between the races you can relax here, use the free Wi-Fi service or send a Kiel week greeting from the fotobooth to the world. And last but not least, there will be a party on stage in the evening for the live acts.
Long-term cooperation
Kiel Week remains a fixed event in the calendar of boot Düsseldorf. The boot Düsseldorf theme "We love water" is implemented in a unique way in Kiel: You can watch exciting regattas, enjoy entertainment on land, exchange information and experiences with guests, sailing enthusiasts, sponsors and organisers. The top international sailing event and the world's largest boat and water sports fair are simply a great team and belong together. Already for 25 years!
Center of the Kiel Week
One thing was and always will be the focus of the Kiel Week: sailing at the highest level. The Kiel Week has been one of the oldest sailing events in the world since 1882, making Kiel an Olympic sailing city twice - in 1936 and 1972. The Kiel Week is always up to date and continues to develop and improve. It was not without reason that the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) called it the "mother and father of all sailing regattas".
International & Olympic Classes at the Kiel Week
The Kiel Week is a must-attend event for world champions and Olympic champions. "If you want to become an Olympic champion, you have to be able to win the Kiel Week," the scene says. The regattas, in which world elite and "active players from next door" compete, unite class with mass. In order to control the onslaught on the Olympic Center Schilksee, the sailing competitions have been divided into international classes and Olympic classes since 1993, which divide the racing days among themselves. The ocean-going yachts, in turn, have their own programme further out on the offshore courses.
In addition to competitive sports, Kiel Week offers sailing in all its fascinating range - from the rendezvous of classic yachts to naval cutter regattas as well as other races on the inner fjord and the great parade of windjammers and traditional sailing ships on the second Saturday of Kiel Week. New developments in sailing sport are also put into practice in Kiel and tested for their suitability. It is precisely this flexibility and diversity as well as the perfect organisation by four traditional sailing clubs under the leadership of the Kieler Yacht-Club (KYC) that is appreciated year after year by the participating sailors on the approximately 2,000 dinghies and keel boats as well as the crews of the approximately 200 ocean-going yachts.
